US National Intelligence director Tulsi Gabbard has called Sydney’s Bondi Beach mass shootout an “Islamist terror attack” and termed it a direct result of the “massive influx of Islamists to Australia”. Gabbard stated that it is probably “too late for Europe and maybe Australia” to act on the issue of Islamic influx but not for the United States of America.
Her statement comes as two gunmen, Sajid Akram and Naveed Akram, opened fire at a crowd of around 1,000 people gathered to celebrate Jewish festival of light, Hanukkah, on Sunday at Sydney’s Bondi Beach in an antisemitic mass shooting which killed at least 15 people and sent another 40 people to hospital.
In her first reaction to the mass firing incident in Australia, America’s top intelligence official Gabbard said, “The tragic Islamist terror attack against those at a Hanukkah celebration in Australia sadly should not come as a surprise to anyone. This is the direct result of the massive influx of Islamists to Australia. Their goal is not only the Islamization of Australia but the entire world, including the United States.”

Sajid Akram, 50, was shot dead at the scene and 24-year-old Naveed Akram, who woke up from coma in a Sydney hospital on Wednesday, was charged with 59 offences, including 15 charges of murder. The charges include one count of murder for each fatality and one count of committing a terrorist act, police said.
Gabbard, in her message on social media wrote, “Islamists and Islamism is the greatest threat to the freedom, security, and prosperity of the United States and the entire world. It is probably too late for Europe and maybe Australia. It is not too late for the United States of America. But it soon will be.”
Gabbard praised US President Donald Trump in her message and stated that the Republican leader has already prioritised securing America’s borders and deporting “known and suspected terrorists”. She added that the Trump administration has also paused mass and unvetted migration “that puts Americans at risk.”
