Now, the company is teasing the Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition, which will come with a physical rotary zoom ring on the back. In a post on the Chinese social media platform Weibo, the company said that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition will feature a “Master Zoom Ring”, which, as the name suggests, may let users adjust zoom levels by rotating it.

In another post, the company also confirmed that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition will come with a custom Leica engraving to the right of the camera island. As it turns out, the official name of the phone may be Xiaomi 17 Ultra by Leica.

With the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, the company seems to be moving away from a quad camera setup to a triple camera setup that consists of a 50MP 1-inch primary sensor alongside a Leica-tuned 200MP periscope telephoto shooter and a 50MP ultrawide lens. Xiaomi is also upgrading the optical zoom from 3x to 4.3x.

The device is said to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and will reportedly pack in a 6,800mAh battery that supports 100W wired charging. Like all flagships, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will come with IP68 dust and water resistance and is expected to feature a 6.82-inch LTPO AMOLED screen that offers a 120Hz refresh rate. The device will most likely run on HyperOS 3 based on Android 16 out of the box, and may come with up to 1TB of storage and 16GB of RAM.
