Samsung introduces Exynos 2600, the world’s first 2nm smartphone processor | Technology News

Samsung has officially announced the Exynos 2600, its latest smartphone chip, which will compete against the likes of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and the Dimensity 9500.

Unlike last year, when Samsung dropped its in-house Exynos processor in favour of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite, the newly unveiled Exynos 2600 is expected to return to some variants of the upcoming Galaxy S26 series.

In a post, Samsung said that the Exynos 2600 features an upgraded NPU that offers 113 per cent more performance than its predecessor. Built on TSMC’s 2nm process, the Exynos 2600 features a 10-core CPU that utilises the new C1-Ultra and C1-Pro cores. Also, Samsung seems to have ditched low-power cores and instead has resorted to a mixture of middle and high-performance cores.

Compared to last year’s Exynos 2500, the new chip offers up to 39 per cent more performance. It also comes with the new Xclipse 960 GPU, which offers up to 50 per cent more ray-tracing performance and brings AI-based resolution scaling and frame generation.

Samsung says its newest flagship chipset supports cameras up to 320MP and brings zero shutter lag to 108MP sensors. It also records 8K videos at 30 fps and 4K videos at 120 fps with HDR. The company also claims that the Exynos 2600 fixes one of the biggest problems the lineup has had for years – heat.

Using what it calls Heat Path Block technology, Samsung says it has improved the thermal dissipation efficiency using a High-k EMC. This allows the heat flow and lowers the thermal resistance up to 16 per cent, which in turn causes the chip’s internal temperature to remain stable even under heavy workloads.

The Exynos 2600 is expected to make its way to the Galaxy S26 and the Galaxy S26 Plus, but we expect you to wait a few more weeks to see how the new chip performs on these upcoming smartphones.
