A week after the iPhone 17 series went on sale, Xiaomi launched the Xiaomi 17 series, its newest flagship phone, at its annual flagship launch event at the Beijing National Convention Center in China. The Xiaomi 17 series comprises of three models – Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. All models in the series will be powered by Qualcomm’s recently announced Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 flagship chipset.

Talking of specs, the vanilla Xiaomi 17 sports a 6.3-inch LTPO OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and 3,000 nits of peak brightness. On the back, you get a Leica-tuned triple camera setup that consists of a 50MP primary sensor in addition to a 50MP ultrawide shooter and another 50MP telephoto lens. Running on HyperOS 3 based on Android 16, the Xiaomi 17 comes with up to 16GB RAM and 512GB storage.

Xiaomi says that the rear display can be used to take selfies, control music playback, check notifications and even get reminders about events. However, unlike the base variant, the Xiaomi 17 Pro has a 6,300mAh battery. And while the camera setup is the same as the vanilla mode, the 50MP telephoto shooter comes with 5x optical zoom.

The biggest amongst the lot is the Xiaomi 17. It has a 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED screen with 3,500 nits of peak brightness. Similar to other models, it is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and runs on HyperOS 3 based on Android 16 out of the box. And while other specifications remain the same, it packs in a 7,500mAh battery.

The Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max start from 4,499 yuan, 4,999 yuan and 5,999 yuan, which translates to approximately Rs 56,000, Rs 62,000 and Rs 74,500, respectively. However, Xiaomi hasn’t clarified if and when these phones will be coming to India.
