A full AI PC built into a keyboard: HP debuts EliteBoard G1a at CES 2026 | Technology News

Who would have thought that keyboards would one day replace computers? HP has precisely done that when it debuted a product at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2026) in Las Vegas, challenging the conventional notion of what a desktop computer should look like.

The company unveiled the HP EliteBoard G1a Next Gen AI PC, a keyboard that houses an entire AI-powered computer, and it was honoured with an Innovation Award. HP also introduced the new HP Series 7 Pro 4K Monitor, which is intended for professionals who require high visual performance and accuracy.

The EliteBoard G1a reflects HP’s view that work is no longer tied to a fixed desk or a single setup. According to Guayente Sanmartin, senior vice president and division president for Commercial Systems and Displays Solutions at HP, employees are rethinking where and how work happens, and the tools they use need to keep pace.

HP’s approach, she said, is to reduce friction and complexity by turning advances in artificial intelligence into practical benefits. The EliteBoard is designed to do just that by delivering powerful, locally processed AI in a form factor no larger than a keyboard.

Built into an ultra-compact chassis just 12 mm thick, the EliteBoard integrates computing, audio and connectivity into a single device that can be paired with virtually any display. With a weight of roughly 750 grams, it is substantially lighter than a conventional notebook computer, enabling users to keep a tidy, minimalist workspace while still being mobile. Driven by an AMD Ryzen AI 300 Series processor and an NPU capable of delivering over 50 trillion operations per second for AI tasks, the system is designed for demanding workloads despite its compact size.

HP has positioned the EliteBoard in response to changing expectations in the workplace. Internal research cited by the company suggests many workers feel their current technology no longer aligns with how they prefer to work. HP wants to give professionals the freedom to design workspaces that move with them, whether they are in offices, shared desks, or hybrid settings, by incorporating desktop-level performance into a portable, modular format.

The design still places a strong emphasis on security and manageability. In addition to physical security features like a lockable tether, the EliteBoard comes with HP Wolf Security for Business, which provides hardware-enforced protection for sensitive data and AI workloads.

HP also introduced the Series 7 Pro 4K Monitor to go along with the new AI PC. The display is built around advanced IPS Black and Neo: LED technologies, offering high contrast, precise factory-calibrated colour and support for custom profiles. With Thunderbolt 4 connectivity delivering up to 140W of power and high-speed data over a single cable, the monitor is designed to anchor flexible, multi-device workflows.

Both the HP EliteBoard G1a Next Gen AI PC and the HP Series 7 Pro 4K Monitor are expected to be available on HP’s website in March, with pricing details to be announced closer to launch.
