Aryan Khan’s Netflix series The Ba***ds of Bollywood brought back the hit 90s song 'Duniya Haseeno Ka Mela' from Gupt and in a recent interview, director-producer Rajiv Rai shared that Shah Rukh Khan called him to request for the song, and he did not charge a penny for giving it away. Rajiv shared that usually he charges money for giving away his company’s intellectual property but in this case, he was swayed by SRK’s charm.
In a chat with Ravi Buley Official’s YouTube channel, Rajiv shared that he first got a call from SRK’s manager Pooja Dadlani that the Red Chillies Entertainment team was interested in the song but soon enough, Shah Rukh took over the call and requested Rajiv for the same. “Usually I don’t give out my songs. Sometimes people just go straight to the music company and take the soundtrack from them, which is wrong. I believe they should also seek the producer’s permission. It was nice that they asked me and called me directly,” he said.
He shared that Shah Rukh told him that this was Aryan’s first project, and he wanted Rajiv to bless it. “Shah Rukh Khan spoke to me directly and said, ‘This is my son’s first project and I need your support and goodwill’. I immediately thought that I won’t charge any money for this, and I won’t even bring up the money aspect. He even offered it to me but I didn’t…” he said.

Rajiv called Shah Rukh a “dignified” man who is extremely “respected” in the film industry. “I said I will give whatever you need,” he recalled and shared that he got a bunch of calls from Pooja and every single time, Shah Rukh would jump in the call. “I said, ‘You don’t have to worry about it. I am giving you the song 100 percent. I will not change my mind. I trust you very much. This is your son’s first project and I would like to support it in whatever way I can. I am glad that you have considered my song’,” he shared.
In the show, the song appears at a pivotal moment and holds the key to the show’s suspense. While the show has received a lot of attention, the streamer is yet to officially announce the second season of the show.
