As Deepika Padukone exited Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit, it was rumoured that the actor had left the film because she wanted an 8-hour workday, but her producers did not agree. Later, in a chat with Brut India, she said, “I am not the first one who has asked for something like this. In fact, there are a lot of actors, male actors, who have been working on an 8-hour shift for years and it’s never made headlines.” Deepika implied that there was sexism in the film industry, and insisted that her demands were not “ridiculously unfair.”

Sidharth Malhotra is a ‘hands-on father’

Kiara and Sidharth tied the knot in 2023 after dating each other for around five years. The two met at the wrap party of Lust Stories and then worked together on Shershaah. In her interview, Kiara spoke about her support system, which includes her mother, her team and her husband. She described her husband as “an incredibly hands-on father.”

Shortly after the birth of his daughter, Sidharth appeared on The Great Indian Kapil Show, where he spoke about experiencing fatherhood. “The whole schedule has changed, now it is still morning in the main vehicle. Be it the attention to food, their sleeping pattern, the late nights going on today are different. Teen is feeding at night (The entire schedule has changed. I am coming from there only. Whether it is taking care of their food or their sleeping pattern, these days, late nights of different levels are happening. Feeding happens at 3-4 am).” He added, “I am still playing a supporting actor, who is watching only while eating on the vehicle. (I am only playing a supporting actor right now, who is just standing and watching everything).”

Kiara would speak with her unborn baby before shooting intense scenes

Kiara, in the same chat, spoke about experiencing the little joys with a newborn baby and shared, “When I’m with Saraayah, I’m really with her. When I bathe her, I notice everything—her eyelashes, her tiny fingers, her giggles. These micro-moments feel so precious.” She also shared that she wants her baby to see the world, and revealed that they have already travelled with her to Maasai Mara. “I want Saraayah to see the world. To be a wanderer who still feels at home everywhere, especially within herself,” she shared.

But, Kiara is balancing motherhood with her work life. In fact, Kiara revealed that she has gotten so good at time management, that she uses every second of her time when her baby is asleep. She even listens to narrations when Saraayah is taking a nap. “I’ve become very focused about how I use the gaps. Earlier, time could just leak away. Now, I feel responsible for it,” she said.

Kiara also recalled that she worked for seven months during her pregnancy, and during this time, only her director and producer that she was pregnant. Kiara was shooting for Geetu Mohandas’ Toxic, starring Yash, at the time. She shared that before shooting emotional and intense scenes, she would have a chat with her baby. She would head into her vanity van’s bathroom, place a hand on her tummy and say, “Mama is only acting, okay? This isn’t real.’

Kiara’s first look from Toxic was released earlier this week. The film releases on March 19, clashing against the sequel of Dhurandhar.
