Director, choreographer and now YouTuber Farah Khan has been a part of the movies since the 1980s but it was in the early 1990s that Farah gained fame as a choreographer. This was also the era when Manish Malhotra became the topmost costume designer in the Hindi film industry and there were many projects where the two worked together. In a recent video shared on Farah’s channel, Manish recalled their many fights on the set of various films. Farah also chimed in and shared that at one point, Manish got so upset with her that he refused to take her calls for two days.
Manish shared, “Farah, the choreographer and Farah, the director, are two different people. Farah, the choreographer, used to really comment and shout ‘Arre yeh costume…’” Farah added, “We have had many fights on set.” Manish then recalled their fight on the set of Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla’s film Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani, where Farah expressed her dislike for Juhi’s costume in one of the songs. “One day, I got upset and I walked out of the set because there was one Juhi Chawla song in Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani and Farah said, ‘This grey kurta is not moving’, and I said, ‘You are always commenting’.” Manish was presumably talking about the song “Banke Tera Jogi.”

He then recalled another fight that happened between them during the shoot of “Fevicol Se” from Dabangg 2. The song featured Kareena Kapoor. Farah recalled, “I remember you got really angry with me.” Looking at the camera, she added, “He has not picked up my phone for two days.”

Manish then shared that Farah has a completely different temperament when she is directing her film, as opposed to just choreographing. “As a director, she is a different person. She becomes so nice,” he said and Farah added, “I know because I am happiest when I am directing and I feel like this is my team and my people.”
Farah and Manish have worked together on many of her own directorials as well, which includes Main Hoon Na, Om Shanti Om among others.
