Just a couple of days ago, music composers Sachet Tandon and Parampara Thakur publicly called out composer Amaal Mallik. They slammed him for allegedly claiming ownership of the 2019 song “Bekhayali” from the film Kabir Singh. Now, Amaal has reacted to the accusations, stating that he has never claimed ownership of songs composed by others.

Speaking to Zoom, the composer said, “I’ll take the bullet but speak the truth. If someone wants to malign my name within the industry, which they do, if someone wants to say through interviews, ‘'Ki usne bhi remix kiya toh kiya'. How did he do that too you see?o.”

He added, “Kisika credit khaya? Nahi (I never stole credit). Have you ever said that this song is mine or have you not recreated it? (Never said it was my song and not a recreation) People put their names on other’s songs and say ‘maine banaya’. Never done that. Has any composer whose song I have recreated woken up and said he has destroyed my song? Never. You go and see what has happened before.”

Amaal further accused them of not taking the legal route if they genuinely believed he was at fault.
“They never say this on my face because half of them are afraid of me, and that is the truth. They will never come and talk to me. They will say it on Instagram and not do a court case. If anyone has a problem, go to the court straight up. Do a case of defamation if you feel I have copied your music.”

The controversy stems from earlier remarks made by Amaal, in which he claimed that he had shared a tune with the duo via WhatsApp, which was later used as a reference while composing Bekhayali. However, Sachet and Parampara rejected the claim, stating that they created the entire song themselves.

A few days ago, the duo released a joint video addressing the issue, in which they said, “Hello everyone, we are Sachet and Parampara, and we are addressing a matter that has escalated significantly. This concerns Mr Amaal Mallik. Honestly, we never anticipated having to clarify these issues, but this is something we solely created. We are referring to Bekhayali, which Amaal Mallik claims he produced some time ago.”

They further added, “We have all the conversations with Amaal Mallik; we have all the discussions with the Kabir Singh team because the whole team was present when we crafted this song. Every melody, every composition, every arrangement, every lyric was developed with the entire team present, and it is entirely a Sachet and Parampara original work.”
The duo also denied any prior association with T-Series before Bekhayali, clarifying that there was no favouritism involved.
“We are outsiders; why would anyone favour us? Or if we have come from a small town, would someone play their song for us and expect us to make a song like that? Are you serious, Amaal Mallik? Also, let’s assume that if you want to say we stole your song, then why were you congratulating us after the release? You were the first one texting me, saying you were waiting for our song and…”

They further claimed that they did not even have his phone number until he reached out to them.
The video concluded with the duo demanding a public apology from Amaal Mallik.
