India issues travel advisory for Venezuela, urges citizens to avoid non-essential travel | India News

Travel advisory for Venezuela: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has issued an advisory in view of recent developments in Venezuela, urging Indian citizens to avoid all non-essential travel to the country. In a statement, MEA said: “All Indians who are in Venezuela for any reason are advised to exercise extreme caution, restrict their movements, and remain in contact with Embassy of India in Caracas.”

The MEA also issued to contact Embassy of India in Caracas through their email id: [email protected] or the emergency phone number +58-412-9584288 (also for WhatsApp calls).

The development follows a “large-scale strike” carried out by the United States in Venezuela early Saturday. Washington claimed that President Nicolás Maduro had been captured and flown out of the country after months of stepped-up pressure by Washington — an extraordinary nighttime operation announced by President Donald Trump on social media hours after the attack.

Meanwhile, left parties denounced the United States for attacking Venezuela and capturing its President Nicholas Maduro, with CPI(M) General Secretary M A Baby terming the nighttime military action an “act of international terrorism by US-led imperialism,” reports PTI.

In a post on X, Baby expressed solidarity with the people of Venezuela and called upon CPI(M) members to organise protests wherever possible.

“The bombing of Venezuela is an act of international terrorism by US-led imperialism. Trump’s claim of kidnapping President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, if true, is another blatant violation of international law,” he said.

In a statement, the CPI(M) demanded an immediate end to the US aggression and withdrawal of all its troops from the Caribbean Sea. The Left party said it “strongly condemns the blatant act of US aggression on Venezuela by bombing various sites in the country”.
