After car blast near Delhi’s Red Fort, UK issues travel advisory against travel to parts of India | India News

The United Kingdom has issued a travel advisory against all travel to parts of India, following an explosion inside a moving car outside Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station in New Delhi on Monday.

UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) issued the advisory on its website on Monday, which stated, “There has been an explosion at the Red Fort (Lal Qila) Metro Station, New Delhi. If you’re in the immediate area, follow the advice of the local authorities and monitor local media.”

At least 13 people have been killed and several others injured in the blast which took place last evening in New Delhi. Home Minister Amit Shah has said that the investigating teams are examining “all angles” and not ruling out any possibility.

The United Kingdom’s advisory restricted all travel within 10 kilometres of the India-Pakistan border and informed that the Wagah-Attari border crossing is closed. The FCDO also advised against all travel to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir (including Pahalgam, Gulmarg, Sonamarg, the city of Srinagar and the Jammu-Srinagar national highway).

However, the agency said that travel by air to and from the city of Jammu and travel within the city of Jammu is allowed.

The FCDO, regarding its advisory on Manipur, stated, “FCDO advises against all but essential travel to the state of Manipur including the capital, Imphal. Curfews and restrictions continue in parts of Manipur following violent ethnic clashes that broke out in 2023. Intermittent violence continues, including during May to July 2025.”

Following the car blast in Delhi, the Red Fort has been shut for three days from November 11 to November 13. A PTI report stated that security has been heightened across Srinagar following the blast in Delhi as Home Minister Amit Shah convened a high-level security review meeting to discuss further plans.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi called it a “conspiracy” and vowed action against the plotters of the dastardly act.
