Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri trailer: Kartik Aaryan-Ananya Panday's new film is a throwback to Chalte Chalte, Hum Tum and YJHD | bollywood news

Karan Johar’s much-awaited Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri trailer is finally out. The film had been generating significant buzz as it marks Karan Johar and Kartik Aaryan’s first collaboration after the Dostana 2 debacle. While Johar has not directed the film, it is backed by his production house, Dharma Productions. Helmed by Sameer Vidwans—who previously directed Kartik Aaryan in the hit Satya Prem Ki Katha alongside Kiara Advani—the film stars Ananya Panday as the female lead.

As the nearly 200-second-long trailer unfolds, it evokes nostalgia, drawing clear parallels to several beloved romantic films. At different moments, it recalls Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji's Chalte Chalte, Rani Mukerji and Saif Ali Khan's Hum Tum, and later, Ayan Mukerji's Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.

The trailer opens with warm, intimate moments between Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday, who were last seen together in Pati Patni Aur Woh. In the background, Kartik’s voiceover sets the tone: “Some say, ‘think about the future’, others say ‘follow the past’. I believe… be in the moment. Here… right now. Just the two of us.”

We are then introduced to Kartik Aaryan’s character—“Rehaan, all the way from LA,” who adds with a grin, “Affectionately, people call me Ray.” Soon after, he introduces Ananya Panday’s character, “Meet Rumi Vardhan,” a best-selling author.

What follows is playful banter and friction between the two leads. Rumi is clearly annoyed by Rehaan, yet fate traps them together—literally—on the same yacht. Much like Chalte Chalte and Hum Tum, the duo end up embarking on an unplanned journey together.

“You are stereotypically annoying,” Rumi tells him, summing up their dynamic.

The trailer is peppered with humour, dance sequences, moments of bonding, and an inevitable romance. In the second half, the narrative shifts to a wedding setting involving someone close to them—strongly reminiscent of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.

Kartik Aaryan delivers a poignant line: “Marriage, giving away the daughter, and… farewell. A girl is expected to leave behind her entire life in an instant. But why should it always be the girl who leaves her home?”

This time, however, it’s not Naina waiting—it’s Bunny. Or rather, Rehaan.

Ananya Panday’s character makes her stance clear: “I am not where you are currently. And can never be.”

Yet, the trailer reminds us, “Sometimes love lasts forever.” Rehaan refuses to give up, declaring, “A man who cannot make a sacrifice for the woman he loves is not a man.”

The trailer ends on an emotional note with the lingering question: “But how long can you wait for your love?”

Filled with heartbreak, tears, and emotional drama, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri promises a sweeping romantic saga. Whether the love story finds its happily-ever-after or meets a bittersweet fate will be revealed when the film releases in theatres worldwide on December 25.

The film features music by Vishal–Sheykhar and also stars Neena Gupta and Jackie Shroff in pivotal roles.
