OnePlus on Wednesday, December 17, officially launched OnePlus 15R, the sidekick to the flagship OnePlus 15 launched last month, featuring the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 mobile processor and Android-based OxygenOS 16.
The latest iteration in OnePlus’ R-series follows the formula set by previous models, which is to be the halfway point between flagships and mid-range devices. The OnePlus 15R starts at Rs 44,999 and will be available in 12GB+256 GB and 12GB+512GB variants across OnePlus.in, Amazon, and offline retail partners.
OnePlus on Wednesday also launched its next-gen Android Tablet, the OnePlus Pad Go 2, which comes with stylo support for the first time as the Chinese smartphone maker attempts to cater to students and younger professionals. The OnePlus Pad Go 2 is priced at Rs 23,999 and the Stylo costs Rs 3,999. The tablet will be available in 8GB+128GB and 8GB+258 variants across OnePlus.in, Amazon, and offline retail partners.
The launch of OnePlus’ mid-ranger comes at a time when the Indian smartphone market appears to be moving from value to premium. The average selling price of smartphones in the previous festive quarter rose by 13.7 per cent year-over-year to US $294, according to data from IDC. This shift signals that demand for entry-level Android smartphones as well as feature-packed budget phones may have weakened due to retail stores slashing prices of premium devices to make them more affordable for people who want to upgrade.
OnePlus 15R: Features and specs

In terms of the design language, the 15R carries on with the OnePlus 15’s vertically stacked cameras on the back and a squicircle-shaped camera bump that extends outward from them. The phone is also IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K certified.
As on the flagship OnePlus 15, the 50MP+8MP dual camera system uses the same DetailMax Engine and supports 4K 120fps video recording. This is also the first R series device to feature a 32 megapixel selfie camera along with autofocus.
