Shweta Tripathi aka Golu Gupta reveals Mirzapur film shooting still going on: ‘We haven’t seen this in the series’ | Bollywood News

There is a significant excitement and buzz around Mirzapur: The Film, a theatrical adaptation of the popular web show. The show’s massive cult following will continue on the big screen, creating history as the first Indian series to have such an experience. The movie will bring back iconic characters, including Gajgamini Gupta (Golu) aka Shweta Tripathi. Recently, the actor sat for a sit down conversation with SCREEN, at the International Film Festival of India, Goa.

During the candid conversation by the pool side, Shweta was asked to address the elephant in room – the upcoming Mirzapur film. “The shooting is currently going on. There will be a few things in the film that we haven’t seen in the series. People will get to see those interesting bits. Khoob taaliyan aur seetiyan bajengi (there will be applause and whistles),” she revealed.

Talking about her character, she further added, “Golu has been the most challenging role. Had to maintain the same emotions for nine years. She is either running to take a life or to save her life. It’s not a rosy world to live in. Life is like a Disney princess, but there are so many dangers in my characters.”

The actor, who is stepping into production shoes with a queer love story titled Mujhe Jaan Na Kaho Meri Jaan under her banner Bandarful Films, opened up about adding a new feather to her hat. “It has been amazing. Obviously, there are days when I am crying and frustrated, thinking how everything will happen. But, there are a lot of small wins. Acting is a profession and producing is a business. It’s a different world altogether and I am truly enjoying it,” she said.

Shweta was also asked about how comfortable she is with scenes that are violent or where she is supposed to mouth abuses. “If there’s nudity or any obscene scene or an intimate scene, then why is it there? Even if it’s violence or abuse, the reason has to be justified. It has to fit into the puzzle that completes what we made,” she expressed.

“For example, I wouldn’t do fairness or fast food ads, because those are not the things I believe in. But, it is different in a film, your character could be doing things. I just don’t want to bracket the good or bad, everything is beautiful. There are also item songs then, you can pick and choose what not to watch,” she concluded.
