Liz Mathew, Deputy Editor with The Indian Express, was conferred with this year’s Dr Mangalam Swaminathan National Award for ‘excellence in journalism’ at a ceremony in New Delhi on Saturday. Mathew was honoured for her extensive and exclusive political reporting, innovative style and interesting interviews of eminent personalities from diverse fields.

The award is instituted in the memory of late Dr Mangalam Swaminathan, a noted journalist and literary figure.
MoS Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Nimuben J Bhambhaniya presided over the event as chief guest. BJP patriarch Murli Manohar Joshi, who is the chief patron of the Foundation, and party’s former national secretary P Muralidhar Rao, along with senior leaders of the RSS were among those present.
