Anushka Sharma may be a private person, but once in a while, she does make her presence felt on social media. This time, she surprised the internet by ‘liking’ the hilarious Instagram Reel of a user who expressed his heartbreak in her husband and ace cricketer Virat Kohli claiming that it was only Anushka who supported him during his professional downfall, not mentioning his wide, loyal fanbase.
The Instagram user, Prithvi Zaveri, who’s a huge self-proclaimed Virat Kohli fan, shared the update on his Instagram Story. He shared a screenshot of the notification stating, “Anushka Sharma liked this reel.” “Guysss Anushka Sharma liked this post (red heart and crying emojis),” he wrote. He shared another Story in which he’s seen verifying if the handle which liked his post officially belongs to Anushka’s. “Can’t believe this is real. Checked twice, still can’t (sweating emoji),” he wrote.
Soon after, he shared another Story, revealing that Saiyaara’s breakout star Aneet Padda also liked his reel. “Guys am I dreaming? (laughing with tears and crying emojis).” In the Reel, Prithvi reveals his reaction to “When Virat Kohli said that only Anushka Sharma supported him during his downfall.” He’s seen leaping towards a window in order to jump out, before a friend pulls him back. In another shot, he’s seen hiding his tears by chopping onions in the kitchen. The Reel is set to Imran Khan’s popular heartbreak song “Bewafa”.
Last year, after scoring his 81st international century during the first Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test against Australia at Perth’s Optus Stadium, Kohli thanked Anushka in a chat with fellow cricketer Adam Gilchrist. “Anushka has been right by my side through thick and thin. She knows everything that goes on behind the scene, what goes on in the head when you don’t play as well, you make a few mistakes after getting yourself in. I just wanted to contribute to the team’s cause, I do not want to hang around just for the sake of it, I take pride in performing for the country. Feels amazing, the fact that she is here makes it more special,” he said.

Anushka has talked about balancing her career and marriage in the past. In an interview with Vogue India, she said, “During the first six months of our marriage, we spent 21 days together. Yes, I actually calculated. So when I visit him overseas, it’s to squeeze in that one meal together. It’s precious time for us,” she said. “People assume when I’m visiting Virat or when he is visiting me that it’s a holiday, but it’s really not. One person is always working,” she added, claiming that she took a break from acting after Aanand L Rai’s 2018 film Zero in order to focus on her marriage. She and Kohli are parents to daughter Vamika and son Akaay.
