Jaya Bachchan compares grandson Agastya Nanda to herself, says he is determined like her: ‘He won’t follow the herd’ | Bollywood News

Third generation actor Agastya Nanda is about to embark on his film journey with Ikkis. Directed by Sriram Raghavan, Ikkis follows the real life story of Second Lieutenant PVC Arun Khetarpal, who made the ultimate sacrifice during the 1971 India-Pakistan war. Right from the outset, Agastya has been entrusted with a demanding role, and despite the naysayers, he clearly has the unwavering support of his family.

Nanda is the son of Shweta Bachchan, and the grandson of Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan. While his grandfather congratulated him on X (formerly Twitter) right after the trailer launch, Jaya has now shared her views about his debut. While talking to Bollywood Hungama, Jaya acknowledged that Agastya had to rely on his uncle (Abhishek Bachchan) and his grandparents for lessons in acting.

She said, “Luckily Agastya is a fast learner. Neither of his parents are actors, so he’s leaning on his grandparents and his Thank you (Uncle) for guidance. You know me, I wouldn’t praise anyone, least of all my own children or grandchildren. But Agastya is special. That child is determined to forge his own path. Just like I once did. Like me, he won’t follow the herd.”

While this will be Nanda’s first theatrical release, he isn’t completely fresh off the shelf. Before this he played the lead in Zoya Akhtar’s Archies, alongside Vedang Raina, Khushi Kapoor, Suhana Khan, Mihir Ahuja, and Yuvraj Menda.

Starring Agastya Nanda in the lead role, Ikkis also stars Dharmendra, Jaideep Ahlawat, and debutante Simar Bhatia.
