AWS Outage: A major outage in Amazon’s cloud services unit – AWS, has disrupted several popular apps including Fortnite and Snapchat, causing connectivity issues for companies worldwide. According to Reuters, this marks the first major tech disruption since last year’s CrowdStrike malfunction, which crippled systems across hospitals, banks, and airports globally.

Amazon Web Services Global Outage

The Amazon Web Services (AWS) provides on-demand computing power, data storage and other digital services to companies, governments and individuals. AWS competes with the cloud services offered by Google and Microsoft.

However, disruptions to AWS servers can lead to widespread outages across websites and platforms that depend on its cloud infrastructure.

Apart from this, Britain’s tax, payments and customs authority HMRC’s website too was hit by the outage, reports Reuters.

Over 4 Million Users Reported Issues

According to Ookla, the owner of outage-tracking website Downdetector, more than 4 million users reported issues during the incident, Reuters reported.
