Perplexity introduces Email Assistant for Max subscribers: Here is what it can do | Technology News

Perplexity AI has announced an Email Assistant an agent for Gmail and Outlook that can schedule meetings, draft emails, and prioritise emails according to the user. This feature will be available to Max subscribers starting today.

The assistant composes emails in the same tone after learning the user’s communication preferences. Additionally, it monitors the user’s priorities and makes calendar-based meeting scheduling recommendations.

The Email Assistant is presented as a productivity tool powered by AI that connects directly to customers’ email accounts. In contrast to simple email automation systems, it aims to mimic the functions of a personal assistant, managing not just reminders and sorting but also adjusting to the user’s workflow and communication preferences.

According to Perplexity, the assistant can summarise discussions, prioritise emails, and even respond to specific inbox-related questions. For instance, a user may enquire, “Summarise all messages regarding the Q4 budget?” or, “What emails should I prioritise before my board meeting?”

Additionally, Perplexity Email Assistant is by default safe and GDPR and SOC 2 compliant. The blog article also said that it never trains on user data. The Perplexity Max subscription is for $200 (approx. Rs 17748), and users can activate the service by connecting their accounts through the Email Assistant hub and then by CCing [email protected] on email threads.

The AI startup also introduced Comet, its AI browser, to Pro subscribers in India on September 22. The Comet browser functions as an AI agent assisting in automating routine tasks. It can manage all of the tabs, summarise emails and calendar events, and navigate through various web pages on your behalf.

Unlike Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge, which have tab interfaces, Comet has a workspace where users can quickly access all the information they require. The AI-powered browser also remembers what you’ve read, are working on, and are seeing to suggest pertinent content.

The AI sidebar may also function as an agent, claims Perplexity. Users may purchase a product, set up a meeting, or convert a webpage into an email and send it via text commands to the AI helper. Perplexity also plans to increase the capabilities of the browser in the coming days.
