Alia Bhatt ranks Yami Gautam’s turn in Haq among ‘one of my top female performances of all time’: ‘You are pure craft, heart, and all things gold’ | Bollywood News


Alia Bhatt has just caught up with Suparn Varma’s social drama Haq on Netflix, and she can’t stop raving about Yami Gautam’s towering performance. She called up Yami on Sunday morning to heap praises on her portrayal of a Muslim woman fighting for her right to maintenance from ex-husband, played by Emraan Hashmi.

“Queen @yamigautam you are pure craft, heart and all things gold in Haq! One of my top female performances of all time… (red rose emojis). As I mentioned over the phone too… am a Yami fan waiting eagerly for all your work to once again charm and entertain us all (sparkle, heart, and sun emojis),” Alia wrote on her Instagram Stories after their phone call.

Yami Gautam returned the compliment by reposting Alia Bhatt’s Instagram Story and writing, “It takes a brilliant actor & gem of a person herself to be so generous with her perspective! Have always admired your work & ethics, Alia! Such a heartfelt & honest conversation we had this morning! To many more of such moments & always rooting for each other… celebrating this empowerment today & everyday!!! (crown and red heart emojis).”

Based on the landmark Shah Bano case of the 1980s, Haq also stars Sheeba Chaddha and Danish Hussain. among others. Produced by Junglee Pictures, it’s written by Reshu Nath. Initially released in cinemas in November, Haq earned Rs 19.86 crore across its five-week run. It dropped on Netflix this month and has been trending on the top 10 charts worldwide for days now.

Earlier this week, Alia Bhatt also heaped praises on Yami Gautam’s husband and filmmaker Aditya Dhar’s blockbuster period spy thriller Dhurandhar, which has already become the highest grossing Hindi film ever at the domestic box office. She called it “movie magic” while sharing an Instagram post from the handle of her production house, Eternal Sunshine Productions, which heaped praises on Dhurandhar.
