Apple may turn to Samsung for crease-free display tech on iPhone Fold | Technology News

Apple’s long-rumoured foldable iPhone may finally be taking shape, and it could solve one of foldables’ biggest problems. According to recent speculation, the company’s first foldable iPhone, expected to launch sometime later this year, is also said to sport a “creaseless display.”

Until now, no company had demonstrated that such technology actually exists. But at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2026, Samsung showcased a new foldable display with no visible crease, while also integrating an under-display camera into the panel.

According to a recent post on X by the known tipster IceUniverseSamsung may use it in the much rumoured Galaxy Wide Fold, but it looks like Apple might be planning to use the same technology for the much anticipated iPhone Fold.

While nothing is certain at the moment, several leaks and rumours have hinted that the iPhone Fold could sport a 5.5-inch outer display alongwith a 7.8-inch inner screen.  Speculation also has it that while Samsung will be supplying the technology for the inner screen, the hinge, lamination and panel structure will be designed by Apple. The tech giant may also use liquid metal components for its hinge to make the phone tougher.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman had previously said that the iPhone Fold may have a total of four cameras, with two 48MP shooters on the back and one selfie sensor on both the inner and outer screen. Rumour also has it that Apple may resort to Touch ID, which would be integrated into the power button like most foldables on the market.

Gurman also predicted that the iPhone Fold could cost somewhere around $2,400, which, if true, means it will be much more expensive compared to foldables from Samsung, vivo, Oppo, Motorola and others.
