Content creator Dhruv Rathee recently made headlines for his remarks on Dhurandhar. In his latest YouTube video, Rathee once again took aim at certain Bollywood actresses. However, he faced strong backlash from netizens, many of whom linked his comments, particularly those directed at Janhvi Kapoorto her earlier condemnation of Dipu Chandra Das’s lynching in Bangladesh. Rathee has since responded to the criticism and online trolling.
In a YouTube video released on December 25, Dhruv Rathee claimed that several Bollywood actresses, including Deepika Padukone, Janhvi Kapoor, Bipasha Basu, Shruti Haasan, Shilpa Shetty, Kajol, and Priyanka Chopra, had undergone cosmetic procedures. Following the video’s release, some viewers linked Rathee’s remarks about Janhvi Kapoor to her earlier response to a lynching incident in Bangladesh. On Saturday, Rathee addressed the controversy by sharing a video on social media, captioned, “Did I mock Janhvi Kapoor for her post on Bangladeshi Hindus?”

In the video, Dhruv Rathee started by reading a headline and said, “Wake up Hindus, Janhvi Kapoor posted for Bangladeshi Hindu and Dhruv Rathee made a video questioning her beauty.” He added, “God has given you a brain so why not use it. Meaning if you keep posting those posts on IT cell you will keep looking blind. The first thing that Janhvi Kapoor posted was the same day I posted a video in the dark hour. Is it realistically possible to edit, research, shoot a video of half an hour in one day… do everything in one day. dal doon. posted (When God has given you a brain, why don't you use it? This means that any post that the IT cell puts up, you will blindly believe. First of all, the day Janhvi posted this, in the next half an hour, I put up my video. Is it realistically possible for me to edit, research, and shoot the video and release it in a day?)
Pointing out that he also posted a reel on Bangladeshi Hindus, Rathee said, “Toh main us why should I criticize this thing. I don't want to criticize this thing. I don't want to criticize people indirectly. Whatever I say, I speak it on my face. And the third most interesting thing is that friends, this entire video is on plastic surgery and what impact it has on the society. It is pure. In the whole video, not a single question has been asked to Janhvi Kapoor.
On Christmas, Janhvi Kapoor had condemned the lynching incident in Bangladesh. She wrote on Instagram, “What is happening in Bangladesh is barbaric. It is slaughter, and it is not an isolated incident. If you don’t know about his inhumane public lynching, read about it, see the videos, and ask the questions. And if, despite all of this, you feel no rage, then it is exactly this kind of hypocrisy that will destroy us before we know it. We will continue to cry about things halfway across the globe while our own brothers and sisters are being burned to death. Extremism in any and every form needs to be called out and condemned before we forget our humanity.”
Janhvi Kapoor’s good friend Orry also reacted to Dhruv Rathee’s comments and said Janhvi might not even know who he is. He further went on to call Dhruv an anti-nationalist.
